With over 20 different Bosch Rotary Hammers on the market today it can be a very daunting task choosing which one is right for you. So we thought we would help and provide you with this review.
So we have taken the time to break them down into a few different classes, 1”, 1 ½”, 1 7/8” and Cordless and then show you our top pick in each class. Or maybe you do not want one from each class we break it down and tell you what ONE we would pick if that was all we could have.
Bosch Rotary Hammer Review – Our Top Up To 1” Pick
In our Bosch Rotary Hammer up to 1” class we had to pick the Bosch 11255VSR BULLDOG Xtreme.
This pick was definitely a no brainer, here are a few reasons we chose it. With it’s powerful 7.5 amp motor it really packs a mean punch for its size and with the patented rotating brush plate it provides that punch equally in forward and reverse. It is capable of 2.2 ft. lbs. of impact energy. With the design of the handle and a weight of only 6 pounds this drill works great for overhead or downward drilling without putting a load of strain on your arms. And what a better way to optimize working angles than the Vario-Lock Positioning which rotates and locks chisel into 36 different positions. Last but not least what would a Bosch Rotary Hammer be without three operation modes: rotary hammer, hammer-only and rotation-only mode
Bosch Rotary Hammer – Our Top Up To 1 ½” Pick
Now for the Bosch Rotary Hammer up to 1 ½” pick, we had no choice but to pick the best in its class Bosch RH328VC 1-1/8-Inch SDS Rotary Hammer
Yes we just said Best Performing Rotary Hammer In Its Class with the unmatched power to weight ratio at 8.0 Amps, 2.6 ft. lbs. Impact Energy and a Weight of only 7.7 lbs. With this much power you will appreciate that it has vibration control in the hammer mechanism and the hand grip area, this especially come in handy over long periods of use. We found that the large 3 finger variable trigger definitely gives you better control over the drill. Of course there are three operation modes: rotary hammer, hammer-only and rotation-only mode, and it does have a reverse function for if you get into a bind and need to back out.
Bosch Rotary Hammer Review – Our Top Up To 1 7/8” Pick
Our Bosch Rotary Hammer up to 1 7/8” pick is the Bosch 11264EVS 1-5/8 SDS-Max Combination Hammer
Bosch did it again with this one, another Best Performing Rotary Hammer In Its Class with an unmatched power to weight ratio of 13.0 Amp, 8.1 ft. lbs. Impact Energy and Weight of 14.3 lbs. Any one will appreciate the vibration reduction feature in the hammer mechanism and the grip area provide maximum comfort for extended periods of use. The One Handed SDS Max system makes changing bits easier than ever before while maximizing jobsite productivity. The Constant Response Circuitry maintains speed under load and overload protection. Turbo Power delivers 20% more power in hammer only mode. Vario-Lock Positioning rotates and locks chisel into 12 different positions to optimize working angles. Auto-Max variable speed Dial ensures maximum speed every time the tool is turned on. Service Minder light indicates when preventative maintenance is required. Last but not least the patented cord turret reduces cord wear.
Bosch Rotary Hammer Review – Our Top Cordless Rotary Hammer Pick
Now our Cordless Bosch Rotary Hammer pick was the Bosch 11536VSR Litheon 36-Volt Lithium-Ion 1-Inch SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer
This rotary hammer is undoubtedly awesome, at 15 inches long weighing in at just over 9 pounds. The powerful 36 volt cordless Litheon in the most advanced litheon battery available. It drills faster than its key competitors, both corded and cordless with a 50% faster drilling time at 7.1 inches per minute. Three mode selector lets you choose rotation only, rotary hammer and hammer only settings. Vario-Lock positioning rotates and locks chisel into 36 different positions; integral clutch helps minimize torque reaction. Bosch Rotary Hammer Review – If We Could Only Have One!
If we could only pick one Bosch Rotary Hammer, which would it be? This decision I think has to be the hardest for us. Being stuck between two, the Bosch RH328VC 1-1/8-Inch SDS Rotary Hammer and the Bosch 11536VSR Litheon 36-Volt Lithium-Ion 1-Inch SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer was really a hard one for us.

Not sure what the i….I purchased the RH328VC and I could not get it to work properly. I spoke to Spartan Tool in Columbus Ohio and together we could not get it to drill a single hole in concrete. It was a complete waste of my money.
Hi Barry,
I am incredibly sorry to hear about your experience with the RH328VC. I have never heard anything like that before, a concrete drill that does not drill concrete. I hope that you returned it to wherever you got it from and either got a replacement or your money back!
Cheers,
Chris
